ECO Cleaning - Using Essential Oils

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Your health food providers offer many essential oils that can used used as a disinfectant to kill bacteria and mold around your house. Some of the choices of essential oils are lavender, clove, and tea tree oil. Tea Tree oil is an excellent natural fungicide and antiseptic among it’s many uses. I have previously mentioned grapefruit seed extract on these pages. These oils have a long history of common uses even though they aren’t registered as such by the FDA. A mixture of 2 ounces of oil per 1 quart of water is often recommended. You may want to adjust this to your needs. Put the mixture into your spray bottle and shake before use to disperse the oils.

Green House cleaning tip - Cleaning silver with tooth paste!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Did you know that you can use tooth paste to clean your silver? Yes, it’s true. Many silver polishes contain lots of nasty stuff that is not Earth friendly. These include petroleum products, ammonia, or other very hazardous ingredients. You might start by dabbing some toothpaste on your silver and rubbing it on with a old clean cloth and then begin polishing. You will want to use warm but not hot rinse water.

Enviromentally friendly cleaning Tips - Dryer Balls?

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

I heard about this product, Dryer Balls, a while ago. Then I read about them on someone’s blog. I followed a link to a website but it only offered scant info about the product. They offered two of these balls for $18.00. They said it helped the environment by replacing the need for a dryer sheet with these weird looking balls.

I ask have any of you used this product, if so does it work, and if so how. The product blurb said it worked but never explain how!
