Enviromentally Friendly House Cleaning Tips - Clean that phone!

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Consider cleaning the little thing that you often overlook. A good example of this is your phones. Yes, your cell and home phones harbor a great amount of bacteria. You can accomplish this by pouring a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a rag and then wiping down your phones. Never pour any cleaning fluid directly onto any electrical equipment… Unless of course you want to replace that model.

A unique way to clean baseboards - Really

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I know this woman, a very nice person, but a little unusual in her ways. She likes to go running every three days. Now, this woman also lives in a very large house with 18 rooms. All 18 of those rooms have baseboards of varying heights and styles. She designed the house and directed the construction, every phase.

She also has this thing about clean baseboards! Even though she has a live-in housekeeper, she does not let her clean the baseboards. That chore my friend preforms herself after every three days and only after the completion of her 3 mile run. Now, this is where the unique part of this tale begins. My friend goes to her computer and pulls up her Excel spreadsheet to confirm what room she will clean that day. Then she enters that room and removes her running shoes but retains her sweat soaked ankle gripping cotton socks.

Now, she begins to clean the baseboards. In and of itself, cleaning the baseboards would not be worth witting about, let alone reading about… However, its how she cleans the baseboards that is fascinating. She always begins her cleaning at the northern facing wall and in the east corner of the room. She then moves in a counter clockwise movement. Her dusting tool is her right foot which is still wearing a sweat drenched sock from her 3 mile run! Then once she completes this ritual, she return to her computer and updates the Excel spreadsheet, which is titled “BS”… Which I guess stands for baseboards and socks!
Hea, have a great weekend…

House Cleaning Tips - Good smell and cleans also!

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Try this one for a pleasant smell when cleaning. You will want to mix a few drops of tea tree oil (antibacterial action) and and a few drops of lavender oil. You will want to mixed with about a cup of water.

This solution will make a good smelling general all purpose cleanser. Shake the solution vigorously then spray on kitchen tops, appliances, walls, and other surfaces you want cleaned and disinfected.

House Cleaning Tip-The tea pot

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

This is a trusted and true method… To remove hard-water and lime build-up in a tea kettle, pour in about two cups of of any vinegar and bring to a brisk boil. Let simmer for about 8-10 minutes, then rinse it out well. This is a real big problem where I live in Tucson. This ground/Colorado River Water is very darn hard stuff! Lots of dissolved minerals.
