House Cleaning Tips - Burnt on food

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Burnt on food can make cleaning one big hassle. The old trick here is to let your pots and pans soak for a real long time. Then attack them with a steel or copper wool pad. A new twist here is to add some fabric softener to your soak. This is said to make the work go much easier? I could have used this one yesterday!

House Cleaning Tips - More Preventative Care

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

I have written about preventative cleaning previously. Then, today I came across an article that stated that 87% of dirt that enters a home comes through the front door. It further stated that 80% of that dirt can be eliminated by using a good door mat. Wow… I thought to myself.

Then I remembered, what occurred in my home yesterday. We have a large area rug in our kitchen that I had just vacuumed. Then enters my life partner wearing shoes. Shoes that picked up a bunch a crushed leaves from the carport. Yep, they traveled inside along with her shoes… Much to my dismay… So this article sure hit home with me… The moral of this post is “If you do not like to clean… Then slow down and pay attention to your actions… You will end up cleaning more if you do not pay attention to what you are doing”

House Cleaning Tips - Automatic Dishwasher

For Help Cleaning Dishes with an automatic dishwasher Try this for a more effective dish washing cleansing. You will want to add a few tablespoons of any type of vinegar along with the dish washing detergent (liquid or powder) when washing dishes. The vinegar will act to cut the grease and leaves dishes sparkling as it helps shed spots and streaks. A side note here: Where I come from in western PA. we pronounce washing “warshing”… I actually used to spell it as I said it… Go figure!

Stories of a house cleaner

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

I am from a huge family of 13. We grew up in a small two bedroom home. What strikes me the most, as a cleaning professionel is this: My childhood home was never dirty… You did the dishes, pots, and pans right after dinner… I can’t say that I ever remember seeing my mother clean… She was good at telling us kids what to do… But I house was never in disorder… There never was clutter…

Perhaps, that where I got my cleaning attitude… In my dating days… Oh, so long ago… Whenever, a woman would visit my place…. They would always say… “I can’t believe this is a man place” and they knew that I was not gay! So thank you Mother so very much…

Preventative care for window blinds. Blinds are very difficult to clean for most people. However, it doesn’t need to be that hard. The most important consideration here is preventative regular cleaning. Most blinds if dirt becomes built-up are nearly impossible to clean. First you will want to start with them closed. Then rub them with a damp cloth doing one side at a time and then the other.

House Cleaning Tip- Water spots

Friday, May 4th, 2007

Alkaline deposits in the water cause those not so pretty spots on your glass doors and shower walls. Apply a car wax to the walls and doors, but not the floor or it gets real slick. Both fiberglass and glass are porous. The car wax seals those pores, which makes cleaning easier and keeps water spots away. Reapply twice yearly. Tried of all those alkaline deposits in your local water supply causing those ugly spots on your glass doors and shower walls in your bathroom?.Try this one on it’s a novel approach. Start by applying a auto wax product to the walls and doors only! However, be careful not to get any on the bottom of the tub. This can be applied to both fiberglass and glass. The auto wax acts to seals the surface. This makes cleaning much easier and prevents water spots build up. This is simply a great piece of advice
