The surface finish on ceramic tiles is stain resistant and easy to clean with a simple solution and a damp cloth. Unfortunatly that lovely finish is surrounded by grout that easely gets dirty, stained, and can mildew. This is especially a problem in older homes, because it wasn’t customery to use a sealer. If you are updating your home with tiles make sure to have the grout sealed. You can seal old grout too, just make sure to use a ceramic cleaner, dry thoroughly then seal.

The tool I am recommending for this cleaning job was ment to clean ceiling fans. It is a cloth covered (removable) flexible paddle. Dampen the cloth with a mid cleaning solution slide under stove or refrigerator and move it back and forth to remove dust and grime. Use it to clean behind your appliances. Remove cover and wash, making it ready for next time.

If you have a newer model (LCD or Plasma) cleaning is not much of a problem. You may want to try a mild solution of vinegar and water. Spray this solution onto a cloth and not directly onto the the TV. This should do the trick. Lightly dampen your cloth and wipe down.
However, the old CRT TV is a different beast. These old models attract dust like the magnet that they become. Try mixing a small amount of fabric softener and water.Lightly moisten a cloth with your mixture and wipe down as you normally would! This helps break the static charge that the set creates
when in use.

When cleaning hard to reach places evaluate what tools are needed to accomplish these projects safely. If the job requires you to clean something along the perimeter of the room it should be safe to use a step stool. Change the cleaning area to a ceiling fan or central light fixture in the middle of the room and the job requires a different tool. This job requires a ladder and a companion to hold the ladder steady. When using any type of ladder make sure you fully extend the legs and lock into place, also check that it is level before you use it.

What design will fit the specific needs you have. Upright, Tank or Canister, Wet/Dry, Handheld, Electric Broom or a Central System? Which ever you choose take time to have a demonstration of the models performance. Is it quiet, does the power match the type of cleaning you do, what’s it maneuverability? Does it come with varying speeds, beater brushes and attachments? After you’ve made your selection, and before you leave the store it’s a good idea to pick up an extra package of bags and a belt. That way if you need to replace them in the middle of a cleaning session it won’t slow you down.
TIP : tape a bag to the front or top of the vacuum and drap a belt over the handle so they will wright there when you need them.

It is not necessary to clean if it is not dirty. A good example would be time spent cleaning the guest bed and bathroom just because it’s cleaning day. When their not in use keep the doors closed to keep them isolated from pets and kids. Then all you have to do is air it out and give it a lite dust before the next visit.
